Glazed bananas with brown suger! She loved them.

Mix 1/2 cup brown suger to 1/4 cup water and add a small pinch of salt (very small) brush on while they grill

Out of control! LOL #:T

Just wait till warm weather sets in! Then your gonna see! LOL I love a challenge, so if there's something you come up with as far a new idea yell at me! I'm open 24-7 for idea's! >%

Sounds good, add a little ice cream and wa la smoked banana split... $_$

Just wait I have a bourbon sauce I want to try on them. Funny how one can not drink yet love to cook with bourbon and beer! >%

$_$Great idea...you should tell your wife to challenge you more often..lol...Idea for ya...Take any pitted fruit such as pears, plumbs, mango, ect...... then pour some balsamic on them and kosher salt then cracked pepper. Stick in the oven for 30 minutes or so at 350...Now here's where you could try the grill tho...I haven't made these in a long time but even my kids loved them...let me know if you do if not I will some time this summer.

I'm thinking your grilled bananas, Pauls idea of using them for a banana split, then topped with your bourbon sauce. $_$

I could easily eat some of those. I have low potassium caused by one of my inhalers, so have to eat a lot of bananas and oranges. Gets tiresome sometimes. Thanks for the idea.

Kim goes to the store Thursday night I can't wait to see what's going to be in the bags! I kinda hope for more bananas!

Anyone ever had "plantans"(sp)? Big in the Cuban community...had some in Miami one time and they were great.

I'm guessing TMB's grilled nanners would be very similiar.

Gotta try this too!

One thing to remember is this. My lovely wife was raised in the south like myself and all she knows is fried this, boild that and cornbread! The main difference between us is both my Mom and Dad were from the north so I was raised with food from both sides of the mason dixon line. Kim would not know about plantanes but I do, thus she won't anything she knows nothing about. I will try them one day now that you said that.

Thanks for the idea, keep them coming I'm always looking for new ideas.

peace,

When I was stationed in HI, my buddies neighbor was from Puerto Rico. His wife would take Plantains, slice them thin, maybe 1/4", then take a drinking glass, grease the bottom of it and squish them down flatter, then deep fry. They used some sort of sauce for dipping them, I forget what it was, but man o man were they good.

They are also very good just fried by themselves. Hell, they even sell them up here in Norwegian Minnesota LOL.

I have done plantains a couple times...Just like Hunter was saying but I cut mine a little thicker then a 1/4" but then you fry them unmashed for a couple minutes. Then take them out and smash them down flat and fry again for a couple more minutes...remember tho these are not sweet like bananas. very good tho with a sauce

Yup, you are correct. She did give them a quick fry FIRST, then mash them then refry. I was thinking about that and it didn't seem right when I wrote it. Hell that was 25 years ago, I can't remember my kids names let alone what happened back then LOL.

But I do know they tasted great. Give em a try.
